We recently had two vendor experiences that could have gone much differently—and they’re worth sharing as a learning moment for new sales and customer service reps (maybe even seasoned pros).
In one case, a new rep called and opened with, “Can you bring me up to speed?” That puts the responsibility on the client. Not professional. Not prepared.
In another, a rep began our first call by saying, “My baby is sleeping, so if she wakes up, I’ll have to cut this short.” Then came a reschedule… followed by another—this time, for a dentist appointment.
Life happens. Transitions happen. But professionalism should stay consistent.
If you're stepping into a client relationship:
✔️ Do your homework
✔️ Respect their time
✔️ Show up ready
