Happy Father’s Day

My dad was the apple of my eye—an old-school, shot-and-a-beer Irishman with a warm laugh and a hardworking spirit. He was a WWII vet who never talked about the war, a traveling salesman who built relationships on the road and a father who supported me in every way that mattered.

As I got older and he retired, we grew even closer. I loved our Friday lunches when I was in town, and I’ll always remember our tradition of picking out Christmas trees—one for each of our homes.

We lost him too soon, and not a Father’s Day goes by that I don’t feel his absence—and his influence.

To all the fathers and father figures who help us become our best selves, thank you. Today is for you.
